The 15-year-old boy killed in a car crash after a police pursuit in Christchurch has been named.
Ethan Dallas Takitimu-McKenzie, 15, was a passenger in the Toyota Hilux SUV. He was flung from the vehicle when it crashed in Dyers Rd about 12.30am on Friday.
He died at the scene.
Only moments earlier police were forced to pull out of the pursuit after the vehicle was said to have reached up to 90kmh on Pages and Buckleys roads, a 50kmh zone.
The alleged driver of the stolen vehicle, a 25-year-old Christchurch man, appeared again in the Christchurch District Court today on charges of careless driving causing death and theft of a motor vehicle.
He also appeared on charges of aggravated robbery relating to an incident on Thursday night in which another motor vehicle, a trailer and a motorbike were taken from a recreational area on the north bank of the Waimakariri River, west of the main bridge.
The man was further remanded in custody to March 4.
