Shoppers at the Palms Shopping Centre had their own Nitro Circus experience yesterday.
Several motocross riders performed a free show giving spectators a hair raising experience with their back flips.
"There were back flips, back flip combos and Supermans. What is really cool too, is that the demonstration was only metres away from viewers, so they could literally feel and smell the bikes as they went by," show organiser Dave Hunger said.
The three demonstrations featured riders Luke Smith, Matty Lewis, Callum Shaw, Joe McNaughton and Stacy Rush. The sessions included a friendly competition between riders and a final all-out battle as the riders gave it their all.
Hunter says he had the idea for the event as he was sitting with some friends (and fellow motocross riders) at The Palms' Fox & Ferrett. One of them commented how "cool" it would be to do a motocross show at the mall and the idea grew from there.
The Palms Shopping Centre Manager, Simon Carter, was immediately taken by the concept when approached by Dave.
"This is the first time The Palms has had an event like this and as far as we know, the first time a shopping centre has put on a display like this. The talent on offer is second to none and we were excited for the community to experience the thrills of an extreme motocross demonstration first hand," he said.
