The driver of the truck left dangling off the edge of a driveway on Scarborough Hill yesterday afternoon was successfully pulled to safety after a tense half hour.
The truck slipped off a steep driveway and was left perched precariously on the edge of a steep hillside, where firefighters found the driver sitting in the cab still with his foot on the brake.
A fire spokesman said the truck was successfully winched back onto the road by 5.30pm and after that, the driver was able to get out safely.
The incident happened in Peninsula View Dr, on Scarborough Hill, shortly before 5pm on Friday..
A Fire Service spokesman said firefighters from the Woolston and city stations used a hand-operated winch to pull the New Zealand Van Lines removal truck back on to the road.
