A man was taken to Christchurch Hospital last night after crashing into a power pole near Leeston.

The crash on Leeston and Lake roads was reported to emergency services about 6.45pm yesterday.

A St John ambulance spokesman said the male driver was taken to hospital after suffering minor to moderate injuries.

No-one else was in the vehicle.

Power was cut to just over 380 homes in the Leeston area for more than four hours as lines company Orion worked to repair the damage caused by the crash.

It was restored by 1.20am today.
