A man charged with the arson of an empty house in Dallington has been further remanded so that his assigned defence lawyer can make a bail application for him next Thursday.
Twenty-eight-year-old Aaron James Swan, who is listed as having no fixed abode, appeared in the Christchurch District Court by video-link from the men's prison today.
Counsel Lee Lee Heah has only just been assigned and applied for the remand to allow the police to check a proposed bail address for Swan.
Swan is charged with threatening to kill a woman on July 15 and the arson of the house in Birchfield Avenue on July 17.
Police announced the day after the fire that they were seeking Swan and issued his details and photograph to the media.
He was arrested early this week. He will appear by video-link again next Thursday.
