Overturned chiller truck closes a State Highway 1 lane in Otago
One lane of State Highway 1 in Otago is closed after a chiller truck overturned.
A police spokeswoman said the northbound truck and trailer unit left the road and tipped over between Palmerston and Hampden about 5.40am on Saturday.
The driver, a 61-year-old man, was taken to Dunedin Hospital with minor injuries.
The spokeswoman said the road, which is south of Shag Point, would be completely closed for about an hour "at some point" on Saturday afternoon so the vehicle could be removed.
During the closure motorists would have to take a diversion through Trotters Gorge that was not suitable for heavy vehicles or those towing trailers.
