Woman allegedly robbed by man with axe and two teens in Christchurch

Jamal John Rangi Apataria Couling, 24, has been remanded on bail after alleging robbing a woman in Christchurch.

A 24-year-old man armed with an axe and two teenagers allegedly robbed a woman on a Christchurch street.

Jamal John Rangi Apataria Couling was allegedly with two 15-year-old co-offenders when a woman inside a car was robbed and hurt on Sheldon Street, Woolston, early on Sunday.

Couling was charged with robbing the woman of cash while armed with an axe.

Couling was processed in the Christchurch Youth Court on Monday as his alleged co-offenders were appearing there. He was remanded on bail to appear in court again on July 11.

The two younger alleged offenders were dealt with through the Youth Court system where they have automatic name suppression.
