Burst water main creates sinkhole, floods part of Christchurch street video

A burst water main on Westminster St in St Albans, Christchurch.

Part of a Christchurch street was under water for more than an hour on Monday afternoon.

A Fire Service spokesman said a burst water main created a sinkhole in Westminster St in St Albans.

A street resident said the flood started around 3.30pm.

Christchurch City Council contractors came after 5pm and turned the water off.

A Christchurch Transport Operations Centre (CTOC) spokesman said City Care had not received any reports of water-main issues in the area, as of 5pm.
