Early morning quake for West Coast

Residents on the West Coast have been shaken by a shallow earthquake early this morning. 

The magnitude 4.2 tremor was described as "strong" be Geonet. 

It was centred 20km west of Reefton at a focal depth of 5km. 

There were no reports of damage or injuries.
