Police name dead logging worker

Police have released the name of the 28-year-old man who was killed in a logging accident on Friday at Foxhill, near Nelson.

He was Michael Steven Langford, of Korere. 

The accident happened at a private forestry site off Foxhill Cemetery Rd, south of Nelson at about midday Friday.

Initial inquiries have revealed the man had been working alone on a hauler.

A colleague discovered him pinned between two logs.

Emergency services attended the scene and performed CPR but he died at the scene. 

Victim Support was assisting the other workers who were present.

The accident investigation is ongoing.
