Serious two-car crash in South Canterbury

A man has serious chest injuries after a two-car crash in South Canterbury.

A police spokesman said two cars crashed on State Highway 79, near Arundel Belfield Rd, near Geraldine just after 11am.

A 66-year-old man was flown to Christchurch Hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter in a serious condition.

Another person was treated at the scene.

A Canterbury District Health Board spokeswoman said the man was in a stable condition.
