Motorcyclist 'seriously hurt' after fence crash

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with possibly life-threatening injuries after crashing into a fence in Dunedin.

Emergency services were called about 1.30am today after the motorcyclist crashed into a fence near the intersection of Elgin Rd and Argyle St in Mornington. 

A St John spokesman said the motorcyclist was taken to Dunedin Hospital in "status one" condition, meaning their injuries were "pretty serious". 

Police were investigating the crash. 

No further details were available this morning.
