FLIPPED: A car was left upside-down in a ditch on the Hope Saddle after leaving the road and rolling on Monday afternoon.

A 59-year-old Motueka has been flown to hospital after his vehicle left the road and rolled on the Hope Saddle south of Nelson.

The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter attended the scene of the crash at about 4pm yesterday. The man was treated for his injuries by St John Ambulance staff and the helicopter's onboard intensive care paramedic.

The man was then flown to the emergency department at Nelson Hospital for further treatment.
