Miss Lyttelton crowned Miss New Zealand
Miss Lyttelton has become Miss World New Zealand.
Arielle Garciano beat 16 others to win the title at an event in Auckland last night.
The 22-year-old Lytteltonian and former Cashmere High School pupil works as a branch sales co-ordinator for Plumbing World.
Garciano stepped onto a catwalk for the first time last year in a charity fashion show.
Garciano's mother is English and her father is Filipino.
On her contestant profile, Garciano lists her passions as fashion, art and travelling.
"I joined Miss World New Zealand 2014 after being inspired by previous Miss World candidates that I met at a Ronald McDonald House Fashion Show. Through this, I have already learnt more about myself, and my capabilities."
"I feel privileged to be a part of this year's event. I am going to use it as a platform to find new passions, gain new skills and opportunities that I otherwise wouldn't have access to."
The runner-up was Rachel Harradence, of Auckland, and third was Maddieson White, of Waikato.
