Quick-fire demolition for city building
Christchurch Earthquake 2011
A quick-fire demolition will see an eight-storey Christchurch building levelled in less than 48 hours.
The demolition of the quake-damaged Landsborough House, a former office block on the corner of Gloucester and Durham streets, will be carried out this weekend.
Two separate demolition crews will work from 7am to 10pm this weekend to reduce the building to rubble using two high-reach excavators.
Roads around the building will be closed from 7pm Friday until 6am Monday.
Suggested detours around the area will be signposted.
If there are delays to the demolition, a contingency traffic management plan will be put in place by the Christchurch City Council to minimise disruptions.
The building is legally known as URS House.
