Cantabrians were shaken by a magnitude 3.8 tremor this morning. 

The shock struck at 10.01am and was centred 25km west of Christchurch at a depth of 7km. 

Twitter users described the quake as "grindy and loud", and described feeling a "long rumble". 

There were no reports of injury or damage.
