Christchurch police are investigating an assault on a teenage girl by two men in a Burnside cemetery.
Forensic scientists were yesterday examining a cordoned area in the northern corner of the Waimairi Cemetery, near an entrance to Kendal School.
Detective Senior Sergeant Virginia Le Bas said the school pupil was walking through the grounds of Kendal School towards the cemetery between 10pm and 11pm on Monday when two unidentified men assaulted her. The girl had been at a friend's house and was taking a short-cut home.
"She has injuries ... but was not hospitalised."
Both the men are described as being European and aged between 20 and 30. One was clean shaven with a goatee beard, while the other had a beard.
* Anyone with information about the attack or who saw anything suspicious in the area in recent weeks should call the police on 374-1700.
