The Wizard took up another persona yesterday at a day of Christmas celebrations on New Regent St.

Gone were the cloak and grey-pointed hat for the day, replaced with red and white.

Perched on a raised armchair he granted Christmas wishes to those daring enough to ask.

Street buskers and a two-piece band offered a musical backdrop as people wandered the street, which has recently lifted its last quake cordon and welcomed back the tram.

The Wizard was thrilled that Jade Bentham took up his offer to sit on his knee.
