If you need to go, don't.

That is the request from SCIRT which is asking Sumner and Redcliffs residents to avoid flushing their toilets as well as putting off setting their dishwashers or washing machines onto late night cycles.

Wednesday night from about 10pm to 4am the area is a no flush zone.

SCIRT's Fulton Hogan team has to do a major reconnection of wastewater pipes which will take three to four hours to complete, a statement said. Work will start after midnight on Thursday and be completed by 4am.

The less wastewater in the pipes, the better for the crew doing the work, the statement said.

Signs will advertise this request for people driving into Sumner.

SCIRT's Fulton Hogan crews are working on a number of sites around Redcliffs and Main Road to install a new wastewater pressure pipe.
