A man has been flown to hospital after his truck rolled and spilled logs across State Highway 72 near Mt Somers this morning.
The 39-year-old man suffered a broken rib and bruising when his logging truck rolled on the Arundel Rakaia Gorge Rd, between Smiths and Prices roads, about 5.40am today.
The crash caused logs to spill over State Highway 72 and closed the road for five hours.
The driver had been travelling to the Port of Timaru when the crash happened on a moderate bend.
Officers from the police's serious crash and commercial vehicle investigation units attended the crash site, along with a police photographer and local police.
The truck's driver was flown to Christchurch Hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter for further treatment.
Police said the cause of the crash was still being investigated.
