A group of travellers have been lucky to escape injury after being involved in a crash near Arthur's Pass this morning.

LATEST: Firefighters from Arthur's Pass, Springfield and Sheffield raced to Klondyke Corner, about 7.3km south of Arthur's Pass village, after a crash was reported just after 10.20am.

A rescue helicopter was also called to the scene.

A Fire Service spokesman said no one had been injured or trapped in the vehicle and emergency services had since returned to their bases.

Only one vehicle was involved in the crash.

Motorists are advised that there could be delays in the area until the crash site is cleared.
