A man in Oxford suffered possible back injuries after the car he was under fell off the jack he was using to lift it up.

The man, believed to be about 45 years old, managed to get out from under the car and crawled to the house where he called an ambulance.

A St John spokesman said a rescue helicopter was sent because of the distance and because the man was complaining of back pain.

"He heard a crack," the spokesman said.

The man was transported to hospital with moderate to serious injuries.
