Significant delays are expected on Christchurch's busy Johns Rd after two vehicles collided.

Two people were taken to Christchurch Hospital with minor injuries after a van and a four-wheel-drive crashed on Johns Rd about 1.45pm.

The crash appeared to be on a straight stretch, between Clearwater Ave and Willow Creek Ln.

A police spokesman said the road had reopened to all lanes of traffic by 3pm, but some delays could still be possible as backed-up traffic cleared.
