The indoor pool at Christchurch's popular Jellie Park has reopened, but the spa is closed after a mechanical fault closed part of the facility earlier today.

The spa is expected to reopen in two days.

Other facilities at the centre, including the outdoor summer pools, have remained open as the fault affected only the indoor pool and spa.

Meanwhile, the 25-metre lap pool at Rolleston's Selwyn Aquatic Centre will be closed next week to allow tiles to be replaced. 

Selwyn District Council aquatic facilities manager Kathy Moore said the work required the pool to be drained of water, closing it from 5pm on January 26 to February 2.

The rest of the aquatic centre would be open as normal.
