Police have concerns for the wellbeing of a 14-year-old boy missing in Christchurch, saying his disappearance is out of character.

Klayton Tipene Waikato was last seen on February 19 in the Hornby area.

A police spokesman said there were concerns for Klayton's health and wellbeing. 

"His disappearance is out of character."

It was believed Klayton was still in the Christchurch area.

Anyone with information on the teen's whereabouts is asked to call Christchurch police on 03 363 7400.
