School type: Contributing (Year 1-6), decile 1

Roll change (from 2008 to July 2012): 116 to 49

Building damage: All 11 of the school's buildings have some earthquake damage, and four will need strengthening work. One building also requires weathertightness repairs.

Land status: Surrounding land is predominantly  technical category 2.

The ministry's plan: Close

Rationale for closure: The school roll had fallen from more than 200 in the early 1990s to fewer than 50, and the school would require significant remediation work. The board of trustees had recommended voluntary closure, and the school will  close at the end of the year.
