Orion has restored the power to 1000 homes in the eastern suburbs after an 8am outtage.

About 1013 homes in the North New Brighton, North Shore, Parklands and Queenspark areas lost power about 8am.

An Orion spokesman said the outage was due to a high-voltage cable fault, but the cause of the fault had not yet been determined.

Power was restored before 11am.
