An Aranui resident would have received quite a shock last night when a car ploughed through their front fence.

Emergency services rushed to the Pages Rd crash where Fire Service shift manager Andrew Norris said the sole occupant of the car lost control and drove through a fence about 7.50pm.

He said the driver was not trapped in the vehicle but sustained head injuries.

He was taken to Christchurch Hospital by ambulance, where a spokeswoman says he was treated for minor injuries.
