Two teenage boys have been arrested after fleeing from Christchurch police in a stolen car.

The brief pursuit happened on Breezes Rd, Bexley, about 3.20am today after police saw a Mazda saloon taking off at speed.

The vehicle had been stolen from a property in Parklands.

A police spokesman said the two teenagers were arrested nearby without further incident.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with failure to stop, dangerous driving and being an unlicensed driver. 

Both boys were also charged with unlawful taking and would appear in the Christchurch Youth Court today.
