Christchurch can expect a high of 13 degrees Celsius before southerlies hit this evening bringing drizzle.
Saturday morning will see the tail end of the southerly blast but should clear up by the afternoon, before it "packs in" again at night, said Metservice duty forecaster Rob Kerr.
Sunday looks like the best bet for any plans in the weekend with some light winds and patchy cloud after a frosty start. Temperatures will remain a coolish 11C.
