Make the most of the fine weather this week because the beginning of spring will be a wet one.
Cloud lingering over Christchurch city today will burn off this afternoon as it aims for a high of 12 degrees Celsius, and the fine streak of weather is set to stick around until Saturday.
However, MetService is predicting rain to hit the region on Sunday, carrying through until Wednesday next week.
"At this stage, the high pressure is going to dominate the South Island right into early next week, so things are pretty much cloudy in the morning and night with light winds," duty forecaster Richard Finnie said.
"[But] there's going to be a band of rain affecting the North Island from later this week and into the weekend and that's going to drift south. We are not sure how it is exactly going to affect the South Island at this stage."
Tomorrow Christchurch is looking for a high of 13C.
