Pina Lissaman woke to find the wind had torn a hole through her Ferry Rd rental.

"I definitely think it's was caused by the wind. I woke up last night and the noise was just so bad. I went out this morning and saw what had happened."

The damage left a large hole by her main door, exposing the house to the elements until they were able to board it up.

"We've got no flooding issues. It's a good solid old house, we've got a couple of leaks and stuff, but nothing bad. It's just the wind that's bad."

Lissaman said the family had only yesterday signed an agreement to buy a new house in Burwood, but were not able to move in until May.

"It's almost like this house has realised we're on our way out and decided to fall apart on us."
