The Cust Village Market will be hosting special guests on February 2, with the Canterbury Dairy Goat Field Day sharing the grounds of the Community Centre on Mill Rd from 10am till 1pm.
Organiser Jayne Arscott says this will be a fun event, designed to entertain and inform, and to provide an o

pportunity for goat owners who don't usually show their animals to have a nationally qualified judge assess their stock and offer advice on what to look for.

Classes on the day will include doe in milk, best udder, doe not in milk aged two years and over, and goatling or maiden doe. There will also be a goat obstacle course, and a fancy-dress competition for owners and their goats.

''We'll be holding a milking display at 11.30 as well, and of course, there will be goat-milk soap and other products available too,'' says Mrs Arscott. ''The one thing is that there are no pens at the Community Centre, so you'll need to bring something to tie your goat up with.''

For more information, contact Mrs Arscott on 027 253 8454 or email: Or bring your goat along and enter on the day.
