I'm a little bit sore today...
After I was knocked off my bike cycling to work this morning (note: the photo is not the remains of my helmet, it's just a picture I got from Google), I might have trouble gaming for the next day or two as I've got cuts on the tips of three fingers and the thumb of my left hand.
Luckily, it's not my right hand, as most shooter games map the fire function to the right trigger of a controller.
Unfortunately, though, my helmet took the brunt of the smack when my noggin hit the tarmac (thanks Giro) but sadly, I think its days are numbered, as it seems to have received a life-threatening crack.
Being a video game-related blogger, I've been trying to come up with what game my accident might resemble, and I'm thinking XBLA game Trials HD, especially as I hit the left front of the car as it turned in front of me, I rolled across the bonnet and landed on the road with a smack. No gamerscore points or achievements for that, though.
Although Wammo, at KiwiFM, has come up with an appropriate achievement for me that could relate to Battlefield Bad Company 2: Achievment unlocked - successfully taking out enemy vehicle using own head (100 gamerscore points).
This weekend the only gaming I did was continue working through God of War 3, which I'm enjoying apart from one frustrating puzzle that just doesn't seem to fit with the whole tone of the game. And if you've played the series, it's not the mini-game you're thinking of!
Talking of God of War 3, I'm heading up to Auckland tomorrow to chat with two of the artists who worked on the game - so I'll ask them about the frustrating puzzle!
So, what gaming did you get up to this weekend?

Oh man! Hope you're alright there Gerard! Hope that drive gets their come uppance!
My gaming weekend was epic! I'd managed to get my hands on some excellent condition old school consoles! 2 of which I wanted to own since I was little.
Say hello to the new owner of an N64, SNES and Dreamcast! WOO HOO!
Sonic Adventure, Super Mario 64 and Yoshi's Island FTW!
Played through another mission of Halo 3 on Friday night. Old news for everyone else no doubt, but I'm enjoying it. The damn missions are so long though (especially since I die frequently - due to a gung-ho attitude combined with just sucking at the game). It actually means that I play it less and less often, because it is such an investment of time to complete a mission... Gerard - I like how you said you are "working through GoW3" - I guess you can actually write this off as "working"! When I take my work home with me it isn't as cool as that...
I think that achievement you get in Trials HD is for breaking every single bone in your body in a crash, so I'm glad you didn't get that one!
Pretty much every time I get knocked off a motorcycle in GTAIV the driver of the offending car ends up dead...
Damn cars! Being an Auckland cyclist I have developed a serious dislike of cars and buses (particularly buses...the way they drive they get overpaid by half!!). Don't get me started on the Remuera Tractors.....
I managed to finish the single player campaign of Battlefield Bad Company 2 over the weekend and got my first 4 knife stabbings in multiplayer!! Overall a highly successful weekend! Now to just get my kill/death ratio over "laughable"...
Bummer about the bike accident, Gerard. I hope you're not too sore for too long, and I'm glad that the accident wasn't more serious. Some drivers are ignorant asses, aren't they?
I had a pretty busy weekend, culminating with watching my daughter complete her first triathlon, at Narrowneck Beach in Auckland (not bad for an 8 y/o :-)). I did still manage to fit in a bit more Brutal Legend though. Considering the basis of the game, I thought I'd enjoy it much more than I am (up to the final battle now). But while the soundtrack is awesome, the humour isn't really doing it for me (not a big Jack Black fan, so I'm not overly surprised by that), and the gameplay I'm finding to be tedious and often just plain annoying.
On the plus side, it means I now have 3 tradable games I can take to JB Hi-Fi, so I can finally get my hands on BFBC2.
Was laid out with a nasty cold and had to help my father in law shifting his years worth of firewood - so just the standards over the weekend (carcasonne, catan oh and a bit of Test Drive which I hadn't picked up in months).
Hope you heal quickly Gerard (none of these regenerating health bars for us real folks).
I personally didn't get up to much gaming myself. I actually spent the majority of the weekend watching other people game: I went to see a mate on Saturday who, while I was there, was playing a little World of Warcraft (while we were chatting). Then, my girlfriend came back to my place and engrossed herself in God of War III. She kept burning through it on Sunday too - I think she's got about an hour, maybe two hours left at the absolute most.
Oh, and yes, she did find that particular puzzle frustrating too. She made me do it after a while. Lol.
I did slowly grind my way a bit in Farmville Fanta--err, Final Fantasy XIII, sorry. I'm aiming for a few more trophies, like max out your characters, complete each of the Crystariums, etc. It'll take a long time though: the farming in this game is twice as repetitive as the Facebook gaming sensation!
BF2BC!
People! Lets be a squad! XBLA General Lag
Still totally mad on Mass Effect 2 and managed to get through another 8 or so hours of that over the weekend. Tried to get back into Borderlands but after some initial enthusiasm generated by a lightning-grenade-powered shotgun, I started getting majorly bored again... Great to see Dragon Age: Awakenings out but with that, ME2, Risen, and the new Fallout Las Vegas game on its way, I may have to temporarily separate from my wife...

Sorry to hear that Gerard - but at least it was only a few cuts and scratches. A friend of mine got hit on his bike a few months back and broke his pelvis. I don't cycle myself but it still amazes me how some drivers can be so unaware of cyclists around them.
Got BFBC2 and played through the single-player this weekend. I was pretty impressed with it actually, I'm just getting into the multiplayer now.
