I played some games over the weekend, as people who write about games tend to do, but I didn't play many (yes, trolls who post on blogs that don't interest them: I got outside and did some stuff too): a little bit of Diablo 3 co-op with a friend, a little bit of Super Meat Boy (thank you Humble Indie Bundle V) and tried to get Psychonauts playing nicely with Windows7 after it seems my PC has managed to drop a .dll file somewhere.
Looking at the state of my PC desk at home perhaps the AWOL .dll file is somewhere under the clutter of game boxes, printer paper and notepads. I'll try to track it down tonight.
While it's true that I've played most of the games in the Humble Indie Bundle V before on console, I just couldn't resist buying them for PC. The allure was just too great: I just had to have great games like Braid, Swords and Sworcery, Limbo and Psychonauts on PC as well. I'm using a controller sometimes, too, so I'm getting the best of both worlds: the familiarity of a controller but the better resolutions of a PC monitor. Win-win.
Also, I just love the soundtrack on Super Meat Boy. I found I just had to tap my foot to it as I played. It's got a catchy beat.
I'm starting to find Diablo 3 a bit of a grind with its constant "enter a dungeon/location, click-click-click on the left mouse button at enemies (I'm a barbarian), swallow a health potion because I'm hurt, click-click-click on enemies some more, win the battle, teleport back to home base to sell off some unwanted loot, teleport back to location, move forwards to the next location" gameplay.
And before the Diablo 3 grandmasters whale on me for oversimplifying things, yes, there is more to the game than that, but I'm sure you'll agree: the mouse buttons get a fair old workout in Diablo 3. I got told off by the family the other night while they were watching TV - all they could hear was the constant "click, click, click" of my mouse buttons. It must have been during a particularly frantic battle. I might take a break and come back to it in a few days. Taking breaks is good.
OK, that's been my gaming weekend. What have you been playing lately? More of the same or something completely different? Internet trolls who frequent gaming blogs just to post pointless comments: what have you been up to lately?
Stuff you might also find interesting: Game Junkie is on Twitter and you can email him here. He'll even answer your emails, not get some smart robot to do it. He also has another gaming blog here. It's updated at least once a week.

played diablo 3, also on a barbarian. Just got to inferno mode and was getting slaughtered.
Luckily a friend with better gear was avilable and willing to jump in and help me out for the first act. After that I hit AH for some gear upgrades and am now doing much better solo.
I had a look at the new real money AH as well (not that I am planning on spending real life money on game items)...$250 for a top of the line one handed weapon! (US dollars too). I find it hard to believe anyone would pay those prices.
I agree with you about the grindish nature of the game, gets even worse when you have to grind the same content on the same difficulty over and over to afford the nessicary AH upgrades to progress further. On the other hand getting some new pieces of gear and going back and whomping all over mobs that were eating you for breakfast is kinda fun.
I finally finished a first run-through of Diablo 3. I hear you on the click-click-click! I'm playing as a Demon Hunter and have been enjoying experimenting with different builds to try and see what is most effective against mobs, bosses and the various situations the game throws at you. I found the final battle pretty easy compared to one or two of the other bosses, but that was only on Normal difficulty.
Also played some more SSX yesterday for a bit. Great fun even if you only have time to jump on and post some times/scores in whatever the current global events happen to be.
I ummed and ahhed about the Humble Indie Bundle, but when I finally worked up the effort to buy them - the deal had expired. Fail.
After completing SniperElite v2. I'm going to go through Deus Ex HR & Torchlight on the PC.
GameJunkie - Did you have any particular program enabling console controllers? Or any preference as to which controller is better? I've searched the internets and have had problems installing what I got for the ps3...
can't you just hold the left mouse button down to continuously attack a target in D3? are you on nightmare difficulty or higher yet? i found the normal play through interesting enough for following the story. but on nightmare mode the gameplay becomes a little bit more like a puzzle. you have to adapt to enemy abilities.
I finished the play-through of Diablo on normal difficulty a couple of weeks ago and now running through on nightmare. I dislike playing through the same content, even though the mobs does a little something different but I do not want to get back into the mentality of grinding just for gear alone. So I play maybe once a week with my partner and that's that. I can't even will myself to play another class going through the same content. I am looking forward to seeing the pvp aspect of the expansion when it is out, maybe it will breath some life for me back into the game. On another note, I am glad this isn't a subscription monthly basis, now I can deal with real life instead of feeling like I need to play for my moneys worth.
@UliamOsa, Iin terms of controller set up, I just plugged in my Xbox 360 controller for Windows (using the PC wired receiver) and it was automatically detected for Limbo and Super Meat Boy. @greg, I haven't tried holding down the left mouse button for continuous attack but I'll give it a crack. It'll certainly make things more peaceful for the family!
Played some AC: Revelations - fun, but it feels like a lesser sequel than a step forward.
UFC Undisputed 3 - Love this game so very much. Been refined from the earlier series' "Spam punch to win" oversights, to the point where it feels more like chess than a brawl at times.
Duel of the Planeswalkers 2012 - Still love hearing my online opponent bleat about how overpowered Beknighted is.
And of course some FM2012 - 2024, West Ham are still top of the Premier League, and my regen juniors are starting to show as world class players - nothing better than getting 29 goals out of a kid you paid $300k for.
I spent most of time between Super Meat Boy, Machinarium and Dungeon Bowl. I am loving the humble bundle and I still have days of game play left for only $10 bucks. In fact I think I got machinarium in the last humble bundle and only started playing it now.
Dungeon Bowl is a online multiplayer turn based fantasy football game (Elf and Dwarf fantasy) played in a dungeon. It's a digital translation of the games-workshop table top game Blood Bowl. Its a lot of fun but if you are not familiar with the rules of blood bowl then you will face one hell of a learning curve.
Last night I finished my first playthrough of Max Payne 3 on PC. Great game, awesome visuals and a satisfying ending. Will have to start another game tonight and play through again to see if I can collect all the gun parts and clues. Also recently bought the boxed set of the Hitman Collection to play in anticipation of Hitman:Absolution later this year.

Spent most of the gaming time replaying through GOW games. Also got in a bit of Fifa 12 & WWE '12.
