Hagley Oval to host Boxing Day test
Christchurch will host the Boxing Day cricket test this summer and the city's first One Day International match since early 2011.
New Zealand Cricket today announced its summer itinerary with the inclusion of Hagley Oval a major boost for the city starved of international cricket since the 2011 earthquake.
The Black Caps will host Sri Lanka in two tests and seven ODIs.
The first test, starting on December 26, will be played at Hagley Oval as will the opening ODI, on January 11. Wellington's Basin Reserve will host the second test.
Sri Lanka, who play New Zealand in the opening match of the World Cup at Hagley Park on February 14, play a ODI at Nelson's Saxton Oval and two at Dunedin's University Oval - a coup for the South Island.
South Africa and Pakistan will also visit New Zealand this summer, both playing short ODI series against New Zealand as a buildup to next year's World Cup.Neither team will play in the South Island.
