The Richmond Keas overturned the round-robin result against the PCU Devils to win the Show Weekend classic tournament final 3-2 at Mainland Foundation Ballpark in Christchurch yesterday.
PCU had gone through their five-match round-robin series unbeaten, including a hard-fought 2-1 win over Richmond in their last game.
However, in the final, which required a tiebreaker, Richmond scored the decisive run after the teams had been locked 2-all after six innings.
Richmond's Nathan Taikato earned the top pitcher award, giving up just one earned run from 20 innings pitched, while Stephen Ratu (PCU) was the best-performed batter with eight hits from 13 bats.
Five Christchurch teams, along with the Demons from Invercargill, contested the two-day event.
