Southbridge are the Combined Country rugby champions - 27 years after they were last crowned champions.
Southbridge today beat Lincoln 30-20 at Lincoln with a late Willie McGoon intercept try sealing the win for Southbridge.
A herculean defensive effort by the Southbridge forwards and McGoon's late runaway proved the difference.
Lincoln were down 23-20 with five to go and turned down what would have been an easy three points, backing their big, powerful forward pack to push over and score.
They were on attack and looking likely to eventually break the Southbridge hopes, but as they spread the ball, McGoon sniffed out his opportunity and ran the length of the field to score.
McGoon's heroics made up for an earlier blot on the ITM Cup player's copy book when he'd run 80m and bizarrely opted to chip ahead instead of backing his extreme pace and pinning his ears back.
