Big crowd expected for playoff
A "big and noisy crowd" is expected for Saturday's Super Rugby playoff match in Christchurch.
The Crusaders secured a spot in the finals series when they beat the Western Force 38-24 on Saturday night at AMI Stadium.
They will host the Bulls, from Pretoria, in a qualifying match to decide which team will make the semifinals.
Canterbury Rugby Football Union chief executive Hamish Riach said he was excited about the match.
"It's going to be great hosting such a big game. It's been four years since we've hosted a playoff game in Christchurch,'' he said.
"It's pretty exciting and it's going to be a big week."
The temporary stand used for the All Blacks-Ireland game at AMI Stadium would remain in place this Saturday, making the capacity about 20,600.
Riach expected the tickets to sell out quickly.
"I think we'll be running at capacity. We're expecting a big and noisy crowd to turn out and support the Crusaders, especially because it's a must-win game," he said.
Tickets will go on sale at 9am tomorrow.
