New Zealand A made up for a frustrating tie on Friday with a comfortable 65-run win over India A at Lincoln yesterday.

After initially being awarded the second match via the Duckworth-Lewis method, further delving into the rule book found the scores were level and the Kiwis still trailed 1-0.

Yesterday no calculators or rule books were needed as the home side dominated the game and put out comfortably their best bowling display of the three-match series.

New Zealand batted first and scored 228-8. On a pitch starting to get harder to bat on the score looked competitive, but only scoring 28 runs from the final five overs left the home side 20 runs lighter than they would have liked.

They needn't have worried as they didn't allow the tourists to get set.

Neil Wagner was the pick of the bowlers and at his aggressive best.

He took 4-36 and was one of several players to put their hands up in yesterday's third game.

With New Zealand Cricket's director of cricket John Buchanan and national selection manger Kim Littlejohn watching, these are the games to impress in, and several players did. Captain Andrew Ellis's 1-20 from eight overs showed how valuable he can be at restricting batsmen.

Tarun Nethula was initially expensive, but picked up three wickets, including the important scalp of Indian dangerman Mandeep Singh.

Singh averages more than 62 in first-class cricket and is well regarded as a fine player of spin, but Nethula trapped him in front.

Andy McKay went wicketless, but was zippy and troubled the Indians while he and Trent Boult both bowled economically.

Earlier Neil Broom (51), Daniel Flynn (54) and Derek de Boorder (51) led the batting.

It was Broom and de Boorder's second 50 of the three-match series.

Broom was 12th man for the first game, but scored 133 in the next two while de Boorder clocked up 138 runs in the series and kept well.
