Cantabrians will have a "golden" opportunity to meet shot-putter Valerie Adams when she visits the city next month.
The shot-putter will spend an evening Christchurch speaking about her new autobiography, Valerie, on November 8.
As two-time Olympic and Commonwealth champion and three-time world champion, Adams currently holds the New Zealand, Oceania, Commonwealth and equal World Championship records with a personal best throw of 21.24 metres.
She is one of only eight athletes in history to win world championships at the youth, junior and senior level of an athletic event.
Adams received her latest gold medal from the New Zealand Governor-General Sir Jerry Mateparae at a special ceremony in Auckland on September 19.
She originally won the silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics but was promoted to the gold medal after the initial champion, Nadzeya Ostapchuk, failed two drug tests before and on the day of the event.
Tickets to the evening are $15 each and can be booked by emailing Sport Canterbury laurag@sportcanterbury.org.nz. The event will run from 5.30pm to 7pm at the Westpac Business Hub.
