Ashley Frye hospitalised after race fall
Ashley Frye rushed to hospital unconsciousMATT MARKHAM
Brilliant South Island jockey Ashley Frye has been rushed to hospital following a race fall at Ashburton this afternoon.
Frye, who swept all before her in her debut season in the saddle last year to finish as leading apprentice in the Mainland, was dislodged shortly after the start of a race when her mount, Zuleika, appeared to stumble out of the gates before running 200 metres and then crashing to the deck.
Frye was thrown from the saddle and it is understood her helmet was dislodged upon making contact with the ground.
Frye was taken from the course by an ambulance and was believed to still be unconscious.
