The Aranui Eagles continued their strong recent form with a commanding 24-12 win over the Northern Bulldogs at Murphy Park in Kaiapoi today.

Aranui's win was built around a solid first half where they scored three tries to one, including a double to Josh Ka, to lead 18-4 at halftime.

The Bulldogs struck back with two tries to Rainier McKenzie in the second half but goal kicking woes prevented them from stealing a win as Steve Maat missed all of his three attempts at goal while Aranui's Daniel Hartley (three from three) and Sam Robinson (one from one) fared much better.

After Linwood suffered their second defeat to Riccarton (38-24), the result puts Aranui into third spot on points differential nearing the halfway mark of the season.

In the other games, Halswell maintained their unbeaten status with a 28-12 win over Hornby while Celebration won the basement battle 36-16 over the Papanui Tigers.
