Newcastle Jets kept Adelaide United anchored to the bottom of the A-League ladder with a 2-0 victory at Hindmarsh Stadium last night.
Jets skipper Matt Thompson netted from close range in the 46th minute before South Korean Jin-Hyung Song converted an 80th-minute penalty.
Their goals ensured the Jets recorded consecutive A-League wins for the first time in almost two years before Adelaide's lowest crowd this season of just 8502 fans.
Newcastle's second away win in a week puts them a point ahead of seventh-placed Wellington Phoenix, despite losing striker Michael Bridges through injury after 10 minutes.
The Reds were unlucky not to score after 15 minutes when striker Cristiano had his shot cleared off the line.
But the Jets found the vital breakthrough when striker Sean Rooney found Tarek Elrich at the far post to set up Thompson from close range.
