New Zealand age group football representative Rhys Jordan is the latest from the Young All Whites class of 2011 to sign a professional contract after joining English Championship outfit Bristol City.

The 18-year-old midfielder has penned a deal until the summer after being scouted in the Combined Counties League, in which he played seven matches for Guernsey.

The move to England's second-tier league has created quite a stir in the Channel Islands, with Jordan telling the BBC: "This is a dream come true. I've worked really hard to get my chance and I'm delighted to have been given this opportunity to play football at such a high level."

Guernsey FC manager Tony Vance said: "It was clear when he first got involved with the club last season that he had the potential to go into the professional game."

Jordan is eligible to feature for the Robins' under-18 and under-21 sides and joins New Zealand under-17 World Cup teammates Luke Adams (Derby County), Cameron Howieson (Burnley), Tim Payne (Blackburn Rovers) and Bill Tuiloma (LA Galaxy) in professional environments.
