Nelson driver John McIntyre eased into the series lead after a standout performance in the second round of the New Zealand V8s motor racing championship today.
McIntyre won two of three races in the wet at Ruapuna near Christchurch and placed ninth in the 20-lap third race.
It lifted him to 364 championship points in the six-round series, 60 ahead of Queensland-based Craig Baird.
Baird finished immediately behind McIntyre in today's two 10-lap races before coming fifth in the final race.
Christchurch driver Eddie Bell, who led the series after the opening round this month at Pukekohe, collected another 110 points with two seventh placings to be third on the standings on 297.
