There is a reason you'll struggle to find a photo of Terry McDonald smiling yesterday after his super pacer Terror To Love made it back-to-back New Zealand Trotting Cups at Addington.

The winning owner was missing a tooth, and there was no way he was letting anybody know about it until after the race. "I lost it last night (Monday) and didn't really know what I was going to do," McDonald said.

"So I called my dentist and we got a new one in there this morning, but it fell out not long before the cup.

"That's why it might look like I wasn't smiling."

The tooth took pride of place under McDonald's pillow overnight on Monday, and it proved to be a lucky charm as Terror To Love repeated his 2011 triumph in front of 25,000 people.
