Fairfax exec joins Crown Fibre board

Fairfax Digital chief executive Jack Matthews is joining the board of Crown Fibre Holdings, the company that will manage the Government's $1.35 billion ultrafast broadband rollout.

Mr Matthews is the American- born former boss of Saturn's cable network business in New Zealand, which is now part of TelstraClear.

Mr Matthews oversees all online media for Fairfax Australia as well as Trade Me in New Zealand.

He joins former NZX chairman Simon Allen, Murray Milner and outgoing TrustPower chief executive Keith Tempest on the board.

Crown Fibre Holdings will invest in local fibre companies, which will build the broadband network.
