Just when you thought the internet couldn't get any stranger than it already is, the notorious hacker group Anonymous have just released their own operating system.
The OS developers have set up a blog to provide updates and additional information
Anonymous-OS Live is essentially a reworked version of Ubuntu Linux 11.10 running mate desktop. Its authors claim the OS was created for educational purposes, to check the security of web pages, and warn that that the operating system should not be used "to destroy any web page".
A raft of preinstalled apps are also bundled, and one can't help but wonder if the unofficial endorsement of such a notorious group as Anonymous will drive greater sales of these apps.
The bundled apps include:
ParolaPass Password Generator
Find Host IP
John the Ripper
While using Linux makes considerable sense from a security standpoint, many have questioned how secure the Anonymous-OS actually can be.
Anonymous-OS Live can be downloaded from here.
