A ranking of the most popular Instagram picture locations has strengthened Bangkok's claim to being the world's social media capital.
Already considered to have more Facebook users than any other city, Bangkok is now also revealed to have the top two locations in 2012 for pictures posted on Instagram, the social media photo-sharing service.
Los Angeles features most often on the list with four entries, while neighbouring Anaheim, home of Disneyland, features once.
Top of the list, published today, is Bangkok's Suvarnbhumi Airport, which was the location of more than 100,000 Instagram photos during the year. Second was the city's Siam Paragon shopping mall.
In 2011 the airport ranked second and the mall was 11th, with another Bangkok mall - Terminal 21 - at 13th.
One commentator noted Bangkok's Instagram results were no surprise, as three things residents liked to do were travel, shop and take silly pictures of themselves.
Placed third on the 2012 Instagram rankings is Disneyland Park in Anaheim, followed by Times Square in New York, AT&T Park in San Francisco, Los Angeles International Airport, Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, and Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles.
